Manufacturer: Sun Pharma
Pharmaceutical name: Sumatriptan
Pack: 1 pill (100 mg)
Suminat is a medication for headaches that constricts blood vessels in the brain. It decreases certain substances in the body that can lead to headache pain, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and other migraine symptoms. Suminat is specifically used for treating migraine headaches and will only address a headache that has already started. It will not prevent headaches or lessen the frequency of attacks. Suminat should not be used for common tension headaches, headaches that cause weakness on one side of the body, or any headaches that feel different from your typical migraines. Use this medication only if your doctor has confirmed your condition as migraine headaches.
You should avoid using Suminat if you are allergic to sumatriptan, have a history of heart disease, or have conditions such as coronary heart disease, angina, circulation issues, inadequate blood supply to the heart, uncontrolled high blood pressure, severe liver disease, ischemic bowel disease, a previous heart attack or stroke, or if your headache appears different from your standard migraines.
Do not take Suminat if you have: coronary heart disease, angina (chest pain), circulation problems, inadequate blood supply to the heart; a history of heart issues, including heart attacks or strokes, such as "mini-strokes"; severe or uncontrolled high blood pressure; severe liver disease; ischemic bowel disease; or headaches that differ from your usual migraines.
Take Suminat as soon as you recognize headache symptoms or once an attack has started. Swallow one Suminat tablet whole with a full glass of water. Do not break the tablet.
If your headache does not fully resolve, or if it subsides and then returns, take a second tablet two hours after the first. Do not exceed 200 mg of Suminat within a 24-hour period. If your symptoms persist, consult your doctor before taking additional tablets.
Discontinue Suminat and contact your doctor if you experience a serious side effect such as: feelings of pain or tightness in the jaw, neck, or throat; chest pain or a heavy sensation, pain that radiates to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, a general sense of illness; sudden numbness or weakness, particularly on one side of the body; sudden severe headache, confusion, or difficulties with vision, speech, or balance; sudden and extreme abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea; seizures; numbness or tingling with a pale or bluish tint in your fingers or toes.
